Application Procedure
Application packets are available from the Ogemaw Count Clerk’s office, Ogemaw County Sheriff Department, or local law enforcement agencies. Packets contain all of the information you will need to complete the application process. Applicants must be at 21 years of age, a U.S. citizen or resident alien and have resided in the state of Michigan for at least 6 months prior to application. Proof of pistol and safety training from a certified instructor, as well as two passport quality photographs, must be provided at the time application is made. The following is a brief synopsis of the process and time frames involved with acquiring a concealed pistol license: 1. Application is made to the appropriate agency. Please bring the following information and/or funds with you: a. A copy of the training certificate provided by a certified instructor b. Two passport quality photographs c. $105.00 in the form of cash or check 2. The County Clerk staff will provide a receipt for you. 3. The applicant is informed the process takes 6-8 weeks. 4. The applicant is informed they must take the fingerprint card and receipt to the Ogemaw County Sheriff Department. The fingerprints are forwarded to the Michigan State Police for review. MSP forwards fingerprints to FBI for their clearance. 5. Once fingerprint clearance is received from MSP and FBI, applicant is informed of County Gun Board meeting date. a. First time applicants or out-of-county applicants holding an expired CCW permit must appear before the gun board for an interview. b. Ogemaw County residents applying for a renewal CCW permit do not need to appear for an interview. 6. Upon approval by County Gun Board, applicant is instructed to contact the County Clerk’s office within a specified time frame to pick up the CCW permit. The permit must be signed in the presence of Ogemaw County Clerk staff. |

Gun Board Members - Meeting Dates - General Information
The Ogemaw County Gun Board is comprised of Ogemaw County Prosecutor LaDonna Schultz, Ogemaw County Sheriff Howie Hanft, and Michigan State Police Post Commander Jeff Anthony. In the absence of one of its members, a designated staff member from within the respective department or agency will be in attendance.
Meeting dates are the first Thursday of the month. Should the meeting date fall on an observed holiday, the meeting date is moved to the next available business day. Concealed pistol permits are valid for 5 years. Lamination is provided by the County Clerk’s office for a fee of $2.00. Duplicate permits are available for $10.00 Questions may be directed to Ogemaw County Clerk staff at 989.345.0218.
